BENGUET SPORTS COMPLEX’S AQUATICS CENTER, SOON TO OPEN FOR BENGUET ATHLETES

Congressman Eric Go Yap provides an update on the Aquatics Center in an interview following the incentives awarded to the Benguet athletes in La Trinidad Benguet who represented the province at the Philippine National Games and Batang Pinoy.

The congressman states the construction of the Benguet Sports Complex’s Aquatic Center, which started in 2022, is close to completion.

According to Hon. Yap, the Aquatics Center—which is a part of the Wangal Sports Complex—is expected to be completed by the next year, 2025, to benefit the athletes of Benguet.

Additionally, Upon hearing that some of the athletes train on the rivers of Tuba, Hon. Yap announced that this center is being built for the Benguet athletes.

Based on reports, the Aquatics Center features bleachers, a 20-meter lap pool, an Olympic-sized 50-meter swimming pool, and locker rooms wherein athletes may store their stuff safely. He continued by saying that the architects meticulously prepared the design while actively collaborating with the Congressman’s office and aquatic athletes to understand their requirements.

After everything has been completed, non-athletes who desire to use the facilities will be required to pay, but Baguio City athletes will get a discount. The budget collected will go towards funding the aquatics center’s upkeep.

Hon. Cong. Yap continues to work with the Department of Public Works Highways to closely monitor the center’s construction, ensuring that the facilities and pools meet the highest standards for the athletes of Benguet.

The Local Government of Benguet will receive the Aquatics Center from the Office of the Congressman after it is completed. This is expected to take place in the early quarter of  the year 2025. | Taha, Anas Abdelrahim
