Two of Next Gen Team Lakay fighters in contrasting victory

It is two for two Carlo Von Bumina-ang and two for two for Team Lakay this month after “The Bull” narrowly escaped Russian Denis Andreev at ONE Friday Fights 37: Bohic vs. Kacem last October 20 at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

But Bumina-ang got the nod of the three judges in the end earning him his second win in the biggest mix martial arts stage and stay undefeated through two bouts.

Bumina-ang showed his grappling skills early in the fight as he took the Russian to the canvas where he went for ground and pound.

Andreev, however, survived and took Bumina-ang to a striking showdown in the second round where he landed some clean shots.

It was a see-saw battle in the end where Bumina-ang, described by Team Lakay head coach Mark Sabgiao as having hands of stone, engaged the Russian in back and forth strikes. The taller Andreev used leg while Bumina-ang connecting his punches until the final bell.

It was Bumina-ang’s follow up win, a 52-second knockout, over Reza “Jaguar” Saedi in his debut at ONE Friday Fights 27 last August.

Earlier this month, Carlos Alvarez used an Anaconda choke to force heralded “Maijin” Title Chai of France to tap out in just 57 seconds of action at the ONE Friday Fights 36 also at the landmark Thailand stadium.

It was the fifth win for Alvarez in professional MMA all in two rounds or less of action.
