The youngest member of Team Lakay is fighting soon and against the man he was supposed to face in December last year.

Jhanlo Mark Sangiao, the namesake and heir to the name Machine of his father, will face an unbeaten Argentinian next month as he hopes to improve his stack in the bantamweight division.

Fresh from his scintillating victory early December last year earning him a hefty US$50,000 bonus, the son of Team Lakay founder seeks to win number three in the biggest mixed martial arts stage against Matias “El Rasta” Ferinelli in a three round bantamweight in the ONE Fight Night 9: Nong-o vs Haggerty card on April 22.

The younger Sangiao has won five professional fights with four coming via submission and one from knockout.

His December 3 fight against Anacleto Lauron via a first round rear-naked choke impressed ONE leadership that he was given the bonus.

Farinelli, who is from the world-recognized Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand, carries a similar 5-0 win-loss card but all his wins came via submission.

The two fighters were supposed to square off during the ONE 164 but the Argentinian was diagnosed with Covid-19 and so Lauron was taken in as a replacement.

Joining Sangiao in the card at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in the Thai caital of Bangkok is Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga who will face Brazilian Julie Mezabarba in women’s atomweight.

Zamboanga (9-2) rebounded from back-to-back losses with a razor-thin split decision win over China’s Lin Heqin at ONE Fight Night 5 also on December 3 last year.

Mezabarba carries a 9-4 win-loss card and is on a two game losing streak including a split decision loss to Team Lakay’s Jenelyn Olsim in  June 3 last year.

ONE Fight Night 9 is headlined by the bantamweight muay Thai fight between Nong-o Gaiyanghadao and Jonathan Haggerty.

The co-main events feature the strawweight showdown between Bokang Masunyane and Hiroba Minowa and bantamweight muay Thai face off of Ferrari Fairtex and Felie Lobo.

The announced bout has Meng Bo facing Dayane Cardoso in women’s strawweight. Pigeon Lobien
