Bilang ng turista na dumadayo sa Ilocos Sur, bumaba; pagsuporta sa local tourist spot, ipinapanawagan

Humigit-kumulang 200 na turista pa lang ang dumayo dito sa probinsya ng Ilocos Sur mula noong buwan ng Enero hanggang sa kasalukuyang buwan ng Hunyo. Isa sa mga nakikitang rason ni Provincial Tourism Officer Ryan Astom kung bakit bumaba ang bilang ng turista ay dahil sa covid-19 restrictions at mataas na presyo ng RT-PCR test.

Mula sa datos ng Provincial Tourism Office, nakapagrekord sila noong 2020 ng 415,447 tourist arrivals kabilang dito ang mga “day visitors.” Kabuuang 415,268 tourist arrivals noong Enero hanggang Marso pero dahil sa matinding epekto ng covid-19, naging 179 tourist arrivals na lamang mula Oktubre hanggang Disyembre 2020.
Ayon naman sa Department of Tourism, magiging bahagi ng recovery plan ang bicycle tours; motorbiking at iba pang outdoor activity para mapaunlad ang lokal na turismo ng Ilocos Region. Ipinapanawagan din nila sa publiko na suportahan ang local tourist sport kasabay ng pagsunod sa mga minimum health standard.
